Officer Cadet School
To Lead, To Excel, To Overcome..
yup, that's what we recite every single day for the past 3 weeks. Finally I get to bookout after 3 weeks of confinement which every officer cadet have to go thru as a freshmen. The feeling stepping out of the main gate today was exceedingly splendid..
Well 3 weeks in
OCS wasnt as 'xiong' as I thought.. or probably because I've gone thru it and still alive so I find it okie still.. 3 weeks may seem short, but its very fulfilling for me. Especially during our Common Leadership Term, which includes an outfield camp in section level of 13 people in my group. We worked together as a team and accomplish various obstacle mission. It's very much like Outward Bound, this is to help us build up the team-bonding as we're gonna go for many other fieldcamps in future which teamwork is really important.
Memorable stuff like straight after fieldcamp, they gave us the final mission to evacuate the campsite with 2 caualties in each section. So in Full Battle Order (which means carrying all the heavy barang barangs), plus stretcher 2 men back to our wingline.. and the journey is approx. 4km if i'm not wrong. The process of it was horrendous.. after a whole day of navigating exercise, everyone was pretty shag already and hoping to go back have a nice shower.. the unexpected happened.. Basically everyone struggled our way back, except the 2 lying comfortably on the stretcher~ lol..i think they don't feel good as well, being a burden to the section makes u feel utterly guilty. Anyway.. I've come to realise that the real teamwork develops only when the team goes thru the tough moments together. It's the moment where I really see everyone trying their very best, pushing each other on, still insisted on struggling although they're so totally worn-out.. especially this female cadet in my section, she alone carried 2 fieldpacks & webbing, plus taking over another guy with carrying the stretcher. 'Mind over body..' That really inspires me to have the same determination.
During these 3 weeks of training our instructors took many pictures of us. But unfortunately the photos arent out yet.. what I have here now are some of the pictures during our parents visiting day whereby my family visited me, and I brought them around for a tour in SAFTI.

Well well.. This will be the place where I'll be commissioned as an Officer 9 months later by the President of Singapore. Hopefully everything goes on well, and someday I'll be the one inspiring others, just like how others inspired me.
